Why Not Give Us A Try Print E-mail

If you are interested please contact Keith Lee, the Band Manager, on tel: 0191 286 6521.

Dunston Silver Band is always looking to improve and recruits players of all standards, currently we are starting to look for some more Cornet players, as we have two cornet players leaving in the summer upon completion of their degrees. If you feel you have what it takes to help Dunston Silver Band contact Keith Lee on the number above.

We always strive to raise our standard of playing, but fun and entertainment are also high on our list of priorities. All players are welcome, we have plenty of spare instruments. Come and have a listen, but be prepared to grab an instrument and join in!

We've held several brass workshops in the past with some of the top names in the brass band world and may well hold more in the future.

RU A Student Looking For A Band?

We actively encourage students to join us whilst in the area and have a tradition of students joining our band. We have a varied and busy social side and organise regular nights out in Newcastle and Jesmond. We also participate in the Whit Friday Marches, the Durham Gala and the N.U.M. contest at Butlins which we find are excellent opportunities to let our hair down (after playing of course)! We are also hoping to tour abroad in the future.

Here Is What Two Former Students Have To Say!!

Helen Lydon - Solo Cornet - University Of Northumbria

Helen Mitchell - 2nd Euphonium - University Of Newcastle

Helen was our principal cornet player until leaving the band after completing her degree. She hopes to return to the area and the band in the future.

Helen joined the band whilst a student and left the band in the summer on completing her degree and has now relocated to Portsmouth.

She says, "I enjoyed the band very much in the 3 years I was studying for my degree. Both the music and social side were great and I made many new friends."

She says, "I would recommend Dunston Band to any students living in the area. They are a friendly band who made me feel very welcome both inside and outside the band room!"
