Youth Band

The Youth Band is made up mainly of players aged 8 – 18. New players of all ages and abilities are welcome to come along and join us. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday from 6.20pm – 7.20pm at Dunston Community Centre.

Young people will have a variety of opportunities to try out a range of brass instruments (no prior experience is required), and to take part in small ensemble workshops and a full youth band. Players of cornet, trumpet, tenor horn, baritone, euphonium, trombone, tuba and percussion are most welcome.

We offer opportunities to perform in a range of public concerts as well as playing in performances alongside the senior band, and sometimes there is also the opportunity for the two bands to play together. We also organise occasional fun events outside of rehearsals, such as ten-pin bowling.

The band is run by Will Roberts, a local music teacher with a degree from the Royal College of Music. Will is supported by a team of DBS-checked multi-instrumental specialists.

Summer School 2022

Our annual summer school is returning! Come down to Dunston Community Centre on 30th and 31th August.
