A Warm Welcome From Everyone At Dunston Silver Band
About Us
Dunston Silver Band is based at the Dunston Community Centre, near Gateshead in North East England. We are guided by Musical Director Sue Murrill and are currently preparing for the National Mineworker's Open Championship, held at Butlins, Skegness. Following this we will be preparing for The North of England Regional Championships held in the Dolphin Centre at Darlington, where we are hoping to do better than last years 3rd place (which we were very pleased with for the first outing in the third section). This follows a successful end to 2008 where we won section C at the D.C.B.B.A. Grading Contest held at The Peterlee Leisure Centre and enjoyed ourselves at all of the engagements we had over the Christmas period. For further details of what the band currently has planned for 2009, check out the following ENGAGEMENTS.
Dunston Silver Band works hard and has fun. We try to play to a high standard and make sure that we enjoy ourselves at the same time. We have a varied programme, ranging from traditional brass band arrangements to more modern pop and film tunes - a current 'favourite' is the recent 3rd section regionals test piece 'Dark Side of the Moon' by Paul Lovatt-Cooper! We practise on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. We also try to organise regular social nights, including 10 pin bowling, evening meals and pub tours!
If you would like to join us, or would like more information on joining us please see the VACANCIES page.
