Dunston Silver Band is a 28-piece Second Section brass band based in Dunston, Gateshead, performing across the North East at concerts, contests, civic occasions and community events.

Who we are

A modern brass band with a proud local identity.

Dunston Silver Band is based in Dunston, Gateshead, and performs regularly throughout the North East. The band appears at concerts, contests, civic occasions, weddings, marches, park bandstands and community events.

We currently compete in the Second Section and are proud to be part of the brass band tradition while continuing to develop as a modern, versatile ensemble.

What we play

Traditional brass. Modern music. Big occasions.

Our programme is varied, ranging from traditional brass band arrangements to modern pop, film music and classical orchestral arrangements.

You’ll hear us playing:

  • Traditional brass band works and contest repertoire.
  • Modern pop, film and entertainment music.
  • Classical and orchestral arrangements.
  • Music suited to civic, community and private events.

Across the North East

From concert halls to community events.

Community performances

The band performs at local and regional events including Durham Miners’ Gala, Beamish museum, and the South Causey Inn alongside concerts and engagements throughout the year.

Bookable for occasions

We are available for marches, park bandstand entertainment, evening concerts, weddings, heritage events and community occasions. We may also be able to perform as a quintet or small band if required.

The band continues to build on its heritage while performing for modern audiences, supporting live brass music and keeping community music active in Dunston and beyond.
